Legal
People who scan a QR code cannot see where it leads before they scan it. To protect them we apply clear rules. This policy is part of the terms of use and applies to every user of the Service.
1. Prohibited content
QR codes, their destinations and the content they show must not contain or lead to:
- phishing: imitations of banks, parcel services, authorities, payment or sign-in pages; pages trying to collect identity, password or card details;
- malware, unwanted app downloads or links that try to take over the device;
- fraud, fake promotions, fake donation or investment offers;
- illegal goods or services, child abuse, incitement to violence or hatred;
- content infringing others' copyright, trademarks or personality rights; acting on someone else's behalf without permission;
- other people's personal data without a legal basis (e.g. business cards made without consent).
2. Prohibited behaviour
- Switching the destination: changing a distributed or printed code to a harmful or misleading destination after it has spread in a setting where it looks trustworthy;
- Cloaking: showing reviewers, bots or some countries different content than the people who scan the code;
- Redirect chains: chaining short-link services or intermediate pages to hide the real destination;
- Evading enforcement: bringing a paused or deleted code back with another code, another workspace or new accounts;
- distributing codes for spam or harassment;
- attempting to bypass the Service's security measures, overload it, scan it with automated tools or access other people's data.
3. Enforcement
We may review codes that are reported to us or that we notice. If we find a breach:
- For phishing, malware, fraud or other dangers to people's safety we pause or delete the code, and where needed the workspace or account, at once and without prior notice. From then on people who scan it see an "unavailable" or "not found" page.
- For other breaches we tell the workspace administrators first where possible and give them reasonable time to put things right.
- For repeated or serious breaches we may close the workspace and its accounts permanently.
- We record the report, the review and the action taken. Where the law requires it we may inform the authorities.
Deleted codes cannot be restored, and their printed copies stop working.
4. Report abuse
If you have seen a QR code you believe is harmful or misleading, use the abuse report form or write to info@qrvesta.com. Please include:
- the code's short address (e.g. qrvesta.com/ab3k9z) or a photo of the code;
- where you saw it and what is wrong (e.g. the address of the page it opened);
- an email address where we can reach you.
Phishing and malware reports are handled first. We do not disclose who reported a code to its owner unless the law requires it.
5. Appeals
If you believe a code or workspace of yours was paused unfairly, write to info@qrvesta.com or use the contact form with the code's short address and your explanation. We review the appeal and tell you the outcome. We undo any action we find unjustified; deleted codes, however, cannot be restored.
